Assembled Memories

This work commemorates the 10th anniversary of Atelier Karaka and explores, for the first time, the technique of ‘intuitive quilting’, a spontaneous approach to traditional quilting that dispenses a prior design and opts for shapes and cut-outs decided at the moment of creation. The fragments of the compositions came from the atelier’s ‘drawer’ where I found fabric waste printed with different techniques and from different moments over the last 10 years. Thus, each panel is a set of memories that are celebrated and interconnected, creating new narratives and possibilities.
